One Year~
I can't believe it's been a whole year since Asuka was accepted at Econtra. I mean, it seems like just yesterday that I was starting to consider joining, and now... Yeah. It's kind of a weird feeling. But I don't regret any of it.
And because I feel like doing it, here is a recap of the major events of Asuka's first year at Econtra.
She was brought in on August 10, just a day or two after Edo had sealed Darkness away. I still find that insanely hilarious, by the way - one or two days earlier, and she probably would never have recovered. Though, she still got the shock of her life when she got there - the first person who she talked to was Fubuki, who in her world is dead.
It was Yamato who told her about the Indigeo, after her jacket vanished because of the Nothing Plot. And during Jade's Potion Plot, a running joke of mine began - she drank a mug of hot chocolate which happened to be infected with the potion, and she wound up going homicidal, attempting to kill Fubuki, Judai, and Takeru. Thank goodness for the cuff, right~?
She learned a little bit here about the goings-on at the Academy in the rest of years 1 and 2 - mostly vague stuff, but she did learn about Daitoukuji's role. Which was fun when he did actually show up. And then after her jacket reappeared, she decided to make ice cream for the entire compound.
Eventually, she decided to request some cards. And somehow, she managed to also received White Veil - after an explanation about it from Misawa (as well as some lessons in making things private), she decided to keep it separate.
The Mist plot didn't do much, though when walking over to Ast to stay with Fubuki and his boyfriend Ashton, Asuka did see some of the Stars out of the corner of her eye. That led to a conversation with at-the-time-rendered-not-in-the-dark-kin
Econtra was remodeled at 3:27 on September 17 - Asuka was attempting to drink some hot chocolate at the time that she was cuffed.
In late September, Gaston stole her dress, and and Mio and Kupi!Jounouchi stole three of her cards: White Veil, Cyber Angel Dakini, and Ritual of Machine Angel. Coupled with stress from the Master's nightmare plot, Asuka was not a happy camper and, on multiple occasions, threatened the thieves with purposefully bad and loud singing. (It's also around this time that Ashton got sent home.)
Of course, she was coma'ed by the Master's plot for a week. She was drinking lemon tea at the time.
During the Storm Plot, Nyi was really badly hit, and Asuka probably got out lucky with only a broken leg. Though, that wasn't a problem for long - Fubuki's new friend Otogi came over and healed it for her. After everything was over, she went to stay in the Arena for a while.
When Miroku died, Asuka got scared. After all, perhaps it had been a false sense of security, but the realization that people could die here wasn't one that she'd had. But Fubuki promised that he'd be all right, and Otogi would make sure of that.
The vampire Elda then hit the compound pretty hard. Especially notedly, she bit Mio - who passed out poisoned cakes that transformed those who ate them; Asuka became a white winged rabbit - and Fubuki. Loveless!Fubuki was not fun in the least. (Nor was Darkness, who Fubuki gave into when everything was just spinning to much out of control.)
During the Halloween plot, Asuka received (to her chagrin) a costume of White Night. And then, when Otogi managed to hint to Misawa that he was "right" (though he never specified what about - for all Darkness could know, he could have meant "You were right - the sky is blue!") and Misawa spread that around, Judai helped Asuka to search for her deck, which had conveniently vanished. Atem also decided to help, letting her borrow Obelisk and Kuriboh just in case she was called upon to fight. (Because though she wasn't chosen, Atem asked, and Obelisk said sure.)
And on Halloween Night, Atem dueled Darkness. When he was unable to continue, Asuka took over and managed to seal Darkness away again.
(Shortly after that, AU Yuuko gave a message from dead!Fubuki stating that he was proud of Asuka.)
In mid-November, Asuka decided to start knitting Christmas gifts for people. Her activity was really paused only once, in early December, when Atem was having his plushification issues. At that time, Asuka paid some of her blood in order to grant the wish that Atem be restored to a normal state of existance. She still carries the scar on her arm from where it was taken.
In mid-January, Asuka was affected by the Mass Kupi Plot by being forced to speak and write backwards. During that time, she met Abidos - who she actually found rather pleasant, despite his being one of the Stars - and Fujiwara Yusuke, who she then learned gave Fubuki that mask. She's still trying to get her head around that one.
The compound was remodeled again at 1:20 on January 21. She wasn't drinking anything hot at the time - she was showering. But she wasn't very happy - her sponges got stolen again. And a few days later, it got worse - Earl, who had been bitten by Elda, had somehow managed to stick a label on her Swing of Fond Memories card. He later apologized, and the label eventually came off.
Asuka wasn't affected much when Yubel decided to possess Alphonse in late January - when she was attacked by the plush kittens, however, she managed to fend them off with the Tunic that Kuzco had given her for Christmas.
In mid-February, during the Smoke plot, Asuka was regressed back to just as Fubuki left for Duel Academy. Which, actually, proved to be a rather good thing - had she been in her right mind, she probably would have been freaking out all week about the fact that Fubuki looked like Darkness, though he wasn't really.
Chronos eventually gave out large stacks of homework to those who had attended the Academy, though when Haou arrived and the Haou plot (aka "what happened in March") began, he rescinded it. Though, Asuka finished it anyway. Fubuki dueled brainwashed!Ryou and used Darkness during it - Asuka saw this duel, but has decided not to comment on what happened.
During the Mod Plot, the Tunic gained more use as Asuka used it to keep from breathing in dust. Asuka stayed hidden in the Arena for the majority of the time, blissfully unaware that Darkness had taken her brother over again (though that was purposeful - Fubuki wasn't going to let Otogi go fight the Entropi himself). And then, when the explosion happened, the entire compound was moved. (And another her arrived - they are now roommates.)
After Sho arrived and after Larka saw a vision of the times when cards had managed to wake someone up, the quest to build a deck that would be able to free Ryou began, and Asuka donated Double Passe to the effort. And the deck was successful.
Asuka didn't do too much for the Leviathan plot - once she learned what had happened, she got worried, but there was nothing she could do, really. As for Pharun's transformation plot, Asuka became a fairy, spouting wisteria petals every time she flapped her wings (admittedly a reference to Ryou and Yusuke's relationship).
At this time, Asuka has decided to attempt to learn the ukulele. She had been thinking about learning an instrument to accompany herself with, since one never knows when one is going to disappear from Econtra, and she's still got a concert to perform when she gets home. Though, she is likely to learn, soon, of what exactly has been going on back home in her world, seeing as Manjoume from four days later in a version of her world has recently arrived. She knows she can do little, but she is determined to do what she can to attempt to boost others' morale with her music while watching over those she cares about.

February 2008: Well, this is certainly an interesting painting... I wonder where it came from.

...and I can't say I ever expected to see one again...
April 2008: Wow... It seems like I haven't seen the city in such a long time. Things are broken down a bit, but it has a slightly warmer tone to it than the compound.

June 2008: In the interest of not giving any men around here any chance to attempt anything, I'm not leaving the room until it's over.
